Fall 2025
2025 Annual Newsletter
The Fall 2025 newsletter reports real progress on the Special Projects Fund: $61,000 raised, every original trail re-graveled, a new maintenance-yard fence, and an updated management plan under way with EarthCorp. It celebrates the Seattle Garden Club's long service and other volunteers, shares Preserve facts and visitor guidelines, looks ahead to 2026 projects and an open house, and includes a donation form.
In this issue
- The Special Projects Fund has raised $61,000 of its $100,000 goal; the aim for 2026 is at least $39,000 more.
- All original trails re-graveled: 2,300 feet of wetland trails and 130 tons of gravel. A new maintenance-yard fence went up, and blackberry and holly were cleared by the knoll bench at the east entrance.
- EarthCorp was hired to update the Preserve management plan, with a GIS app.
- The Seattle Garden Club, the longest-serving volunteer group, has held work parties every year since 2004. Boy Scout Troop 430 helped remove blackberry.
- By the numbers: 7 large trees lost and 8 planted, 1,600 gallons of water, 269 hours of contracted trail labor, and 6 habitat havens.
- Still to come in 2026: upland trail restoration, sturdier benches, new signage and an open house.
